Parker and Monica are not only a sweet couple but a perfect pair.  It is so sweet how they compliment one another and photographing them was so much fun. Salt flat bride and groom photos are a match made in heaven with the ethereal white background and secluded and romantic vibe.

Since moving to Utah we have a long list of locations we want to shoot in.  We have done a few shoots at the Salt Flats but dreamed up this shoot for a while.  We were so happy to work with Chantel Lauren Designs because this dress was exactly what we imaged in the pink salt flats. This location is unique because of the red algae at this part of the Salt Lake that turns the salt light pink. The ethereal white of the salt seems to go on forever up against the mountains in the distance. Standing on the salt is the oddest experience because it looks like snow and you expect to sink down into it.  Instead it is hard and crunches under your feet.

I fall in love with Utah more and more each season, but I feel like we will never get through all the locations we want to photograph.  This has been our year of having fun with photography again.  We have always loved photography and taking portraits, but we have been taking time to think about the images we really want to create and making the time to do it.  Mike has been out photographing nature and creating his art more than ever before and this shoot is the combination of our work and love of art.

I love this family.  Sonja is one of my best friends and a I look up to her as one of the strongest women I know.  The way she interacts with her children is loving, kind and firm. Plus, her children love my little girl and she loves them back which is the sweetest thing. Not pictured is her talented husband and I have to mention him too because he is pretty great as well. He is a painter and I highly suggest checking out his work here.

Sonja is supermom and I am not exaggerating; she works, goes to school, volunteers for charity, and still makes time for working out with me and getting her kids involved in fun activities like fishing club and chess club.  When I was little I did dance like many other little girls, but my dad also got me involved in an archery club and golfing.  I think it was secretly because he wanted a boy, but I am really grateful for learning those things and getting to try something different.  I want that for my little girl too.

Hazel is helpful, sweet and kind hearted. Ezra is a rough and tough boy in the best way with a sweet heart. It is obvious they love each other and the easiest siblings I think I have ever photographed. Normally if I say can you hug your sister, I get that look and scowl. Not with these two.  They hug and play without much coaxing and it makes me think what great friends and support they will be for each other when they are older.

I could honestly go on and on about this family and how awesome they are but their story is not mine to tell.  I will just say that I am so honored to photograph them and any other family who trusts me to capture a little glimpse into their life and love together.

We photographed Alyssa’s brother’s wedding a few years ago and when she contacted us to photograph hers we just about did backflips.  We love this family so much! Not to mention Alyssa has impeccable taste and is extremely talented since she designed all the wedding details. They traveled from Canada to have their destination wedding in the desert and the beautiful wedding took place at the Four Seasons in Scottsdale with the most stunning desert mountain views.

We absolutely LOVE getting to photography other artists at work.  I also love flowers so being in a room with the most flowers I have ever seen and getting to see what these talented florists created with them was a very dreamy couple days.

These beautiful girls were a dream to photograph!  Such a sweet mother and daughter relationship that makes my job way too easy. We went to this hill that I love photographing families at because kids are able to explore.

When we started into photography I was terrified of photographing families.  I could shoot a wedding any day and it didn’t make me nervous, but knowing I had a family session I would be stressed for a week planning what I was going to do and how I could make it a good experience for the family.  I had so many expectations on myself on how the photos needed to look.  Eventually I realized that the images I really wanted to capture were those that showed movement, emotion and most of all real life.  I want to see beautiful faces and smiles but I don’t have to make a child sit and stare at me for an hour to get that.  Instead kids can run and play and we want to run around with them to get those real moments.

Mike has always been a natural at photographing families because he is a big kid at heart.  He was always the one running around and playing to get those fun images and when we got our film back I would say,”how did you get that?”  I would be looking at the location, planning the next pose and talking to the parents.  Now I get it, and family shoots are the highlight of my week.

We want to capture your family and all the love you have for each other. Contact us for more information here.
