Going to New York was a big adventure in many ways for us. While Mike and I have traveled the country on road trips, going to New York was my first time on a plane. Crazy right!!! I have been in a small 4 passenger plane, but never a commercial flight. Luckily I loved it and have no fear of flying because we have been flying all over the place this year and have many destinations on our calendar.
We were in New York in the middle of April and while it was still pretty cold and rainy, we got to see the cherry blossoms blooming all over the city. Even in the rain and cold it is a gorgeous place to be and we cannot wait for our next trip back.
Most of the photos shown here are in Central Park. We explored a lot more of the city than just Central Park, but our hotel was next to the park and so we walk through it every day multiple times. There are still so many places we did not get to visit, and because of the rain, there are a lot of places we did visit but only got to photograph with our iPhone. We decided not to show off many of those awesome iphone photos. Mostly we shot with our Mamiya 645 AFD ii using Fuji 400h, Portra 400, Porta 800, Ilford 3200, and Fuji Neopan Acros 100.
These last three shots are just from an iPhone. We took some awesome photos in Time Square at night on B&W film with our Mamiya 645 AFD ii. Those photos still need to be scanned so they can be shared in another post.
The photo below is the Empire State Building. It was so rainy and the clouds were so low that the building disappeared into them.
Justin & Laura decided on a gorgeous destination wedding at the Windmill Winery in Florence AZ. Being from Canada they did not expect many friends to be able to travel for the wedding. It is a testament to how wonderful these two people and their families are because over 200 people traveled to hear them say I do. Very rarely do we meet a couple for the first time on their wedding day because it is so important to us to do an engagement session to get to know the couple first. This was one of those odd instances that it did not work out so we headed to their wedding not knowing all that much about them. We quickly discovered how sweet and caring they both are when they welcomed us with hugs and were so appreciative for us to be capturing their day.
It is one of the easiest weddings we have ever photographed because it was so full of happy people just overjoyed getting to spend time together. Justin and Laura are a beautiful couple and we were more than happy to follow them around and capture the love they have for each other. We love their photos and wish them a very happy life together!

We love finding new places to shoot and now that we have found Superior, we are stuck. It’s such a neat and interesting place. Its the perfect place to get some real Arizona scenery with a real Arizona sunset. Its so colorful and full of character. When we have a couple with equally colorful personalities, its the perfect setting! Bryan and Magda were so awesome to work with. It was like shooting seasoned models, we could have shot for hours. They had just the perfect outfits that went well with the area. We can’t wait for their Windmill Winery wedding to see what they have in store for us!
We were so excited to hear from our friends Jenny & Mike that they were opening a wedding venue. They have worked in the industry for a long time and this is the perfect place for them. We were ecstatic to get to photograph it before opening to show off all the gorgeousness it has to offer. You don’t even feel like you are in AZ there because it is soooo green! There are fields all around with gorgeous blue mountains in the distance.
The San Tan Mountains are so beautiful. We are so lucky to have them backing our house so every evening we have the sun set just over the mountains creating such a beautiful scene. We love it when we get to take a cute couple into this beautiful natural Arizona setting and photograph their beautiful personalities against this colorful scene. Mark & Emily were the perfect couple to place here. The cactus were all blooming and everything was just right for them.
We had a great time with Travis & Andrea at their Inpirador Wedding. The area has so many wonderful locations all around that give so many options for backdrops. It makes it easy to tailor the setting to couples’ style. Travis & Andrea wanted a green and natural setting with trees. There is a great spot with a beautiful tree just across the street and we also were able to capture some of the modern urban style that is predominate in downtown Chandler. We love to get a sparkler shot if time allows and we were able to use a wall of reflective material in the evening with them. There are so many more spots to discover and try out here, we look forward to doing engagements and weddings here in the future.
It’s a rare occasion when it rains all day in Arizona. Cedric & Nancy’s Shenandoah Mill wedding was one of those days. But the rain didn’t stop them from having a great time. They had styled the place up with beautiful decor finished with some pretty awesome personal touches. Cedric is a wonderful artist and it was such a pleasure to see his art throughout the event displayed within the decor. The ceremony was setup to be outdoors but with the rain, it moved inside and was just as beautiful. The rain let up just long enough for us to go outdoors and get all the group shots done. Then it was back inside to get the party started! They had a great dancing crowd and it was such a fun filled night. We wish Cedric & Nancy a beautiful marriage, as beautiful as rain in the desert.
We are so excited to be having our website and branding get a complete makeover. We are even more excited that the very talented Three Fifteen Designs is doing it. Here is the design board she created, which we love! It IS Brushfire Photography. We cannot wait to reveal our new logo, branding, and website!
